* ISLAMIC HISTORY
Islamic History, which examines the events that developed around Muslims starting from the Prophet Muhammad and the institutions that originate from the Islamic religion, constitutes one of the basic courses of theology faculties.
All Muslim nations and states in history are the subject of Islamic History. Islamic History deals with the historical background of these nations and states, their later existence, institutions, social, cultural, political and economic aspects and tries to scientifically determine their place in Islamic culture and civilization. In doing so, it relies on a wide range of sources from poetry to archival materials, from written works to museum materials.
In parallel with the level of knowledge and formation that other departments and divisions aim to provide to their students, the Department of Islamic History assumes an important function in terms of dealing with Islamic history and civilization in the historical process. It aims to make students realize that Islamic historiography is not only a chronological classification of events, but also to reveal the social, cultural, economic and political dimensions of events by evaluating them within the conditions of time and space and to present exemplary studies in this direction.
* TURKISH RELIGIOUS MUSIC
The effective role of music, especially in the religious field,
The role of pre-Islamic and post-Islamic music in Turkish Civilization,
The source works of the Turks in terms of music theory and practice,
Examples of classical and religious Turkish music that have survived to the present day,
The life and art of prominent musicians,
Instrumental and spoken forms of Turkish music are analyzed.
The effective role of music especially in the religious field, the role of our pre-Islamic and post-Islamic music in Turkish civilization, the source works of the Turks in terms of the theory and practice of music, the life and art of prominent musicians, instrumental and spoken forms of Turkish music are examined.
* TURKISH ISLAMIC ARTS The Department of History of Turkish Islamic Arts is a discipline that researches and documents the artistic heritage of Turkish Islamic culture. Its aim is to understand and preserve the development of this field by following the historical processes of Turkish Islamic art. The department examines various art branches such as architecture, calligraphy, illumination, miniature and tile and analyzes the aesthetic values of these art branches. It studies the production techniques, stylistic features, symbolism and social contexts of works of art.
The Department of History of Turkish Islamic Arts investigates the continuity of Turkish Islamic art from the past to the present by using methods such as researching source works, examining historical documents, analyzing and evaluating works of art, and ensures the preservation and exhibition of these works of art. In addition, this department provides education in order to teach students the characteristics of Turkish Islamic art and to train qualified art historians in this field. It aims to introduce the cultural richness and aesthetic understanding of Turkish Islamic art by emphasizing the universal values of works of art.
* TURKISH ISLAMIC LITERATURE
Turkish Islamic Literature is the branch of Turkish literature that developed under the influence of Islamic culture and civilization after the Turks embraced Islam. Turkish Islamic Literature gave its first written example with Kutadgu Bilig written during the Karakhanids period and continued to produce products until today by enriching with its aesthetic forms and classical works in almost every field of Turkish Literature named as Dîvân Literature, Folk Literature and Tekke Literature.
Turkish Islamic Literature is a discipline that deals with pre-Islamic Turkish Literature and its religious content, the development of Turkish Literature after the acceptance of Islam and the effects of Islam on this literature. Within this framework, the religious-sufistic content and related religious-literary genres in Turkish Literature are examined, and related sample texts are analyzed by methods such as translation into modern Turkish, commentary and analysis. Turkish-Islamic Literature focuses on basic areas such as “religion-literature, Sufism-literature, history of Turkish-Islamic literature, sources, persons-works, textual analysis and commentary studies”.
The following subjects are examined in the Department of Turkish Islamic Literature:
1. Major literary figures who lived from the time Turks became Muslims to the present day,
2. Important works written by them,
3. Text analysis and commentary,
4. “Ottoman Turkish”.
